While up in Laurens & Clinton for Thursday’s Oklahoma Backroads workshop with the Loose Threads guild, we took some time after lunch for a lovely Show & Share of what ladies had created from my patterns – digging into their scraps, making good use of fabric they have had on hand for years and making BEAUTIFUL quilts!

I loved the display of quilts waiting to be shared by Susan, laundry hamper ready to roll with a handle….Every day items that make our quilt life easier!

One by one the quilts were shown, and we had such a great time. I love seeing what you do, so if I come to visit your guild ---bring your show & share to class so we can all cheer you on.

This basket was not part of show and share, but I took a picture anyway….I LOVE this!

Look at all the pockets, inside and out:

The pockets are window screening – and I love how they have ample space to contain, and keep things visible!

It covers what looks to be an ice cream type of bucket ---with elastic on the bottom to hold it in place.

I am unaware of a pattern for this item, it just belonged to a student in class…great idea, don’t you think?

Cathedral Stars…BEAUTIFUL!

Cathedral stars was made for a guild fundraiser ---and they did such a great job! The pattern for Cathedral Stars is found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog. Once you start making these blocks, you can’t stop!

This mother & daughter team is a dynamic duo!

The daughter cuts, the mother sews and they turn out beautiful quilts! This is Roll Roll Cotton Boll from String Fling. I have loved every variation of this I have seen…..just lovely!

These gals also did Orca Bay from String Fling --- GORGEOUS!

And Easy Street, last year’s mystery that will be featured in my new book this coming Spring 2014!

And Texas Braid from Adventures with Leaders & Enders!

This is Ann’s Blue Ridge beauty from Adventures with Leaders & Enders under way.

Leader & Ender projects are not a race – they just evolve along side our other projects –and can take some time to complete, but they do grow! This is going to be beautiful in shades of green and neutrals.

Basket weave strings was made by a young granddaughter under the tutelage of her grandmother when she was 7 or 8 years old. She is now entering her teens and is becoming a skilled long arm quilter! They are never too young to take up quilting. Basket Weave Strings is found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog and is a perfect beginner project!

The group makes lap robes from string blocks using the String Quilting Primer found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog. String blocks are easily made by groups, squared to size, traded, swapped, combined and sewn into wonderful tops in may layouts just right for comfort-giving. I loved seeing the rainbow array as they all showed their quilts they’ve made for those in need. Great job, ladies!

It was just so inspiring to see the quilts that came out of these gal’s talented hands and over-abundant stash. I love the freedom of being a consummate scrap quilter where everything goes and even old unloved fabric can find a purpose and a place.

Good Morning from Quilt Villa!

I arrived up at the cabin in pitch darkness to the aroma of baked potatoes in the oven last night. Steaks were quickly thrown on the grill, and I tossed together a yummy salad. I didn’t even pick up a needle last night –just watched a couple episodes of Bones and fell asleep. This is the view I awoke to this morning. The sun is shining down on a beautiful Sunday October morning on the Blue Ridge parkway in the distance.

I’ll be sewing away on Celtic Solstice today –getting those rows assembled into a top!
