Happy Saturday and welcome to a new "Saturday Blog Hop" at Create with Connie & Mary! Dave and I and 4 other couples left for our Bahamas Cruise today, arriving in New York last night and sailing today.  Sooo.....I have pre-scheduled this post today!

You may have arrived here from the talented Nicole Tugrul's blog or you may be starting with me. In either case, I will direct you to the next blog at the end of my post. Our theme today for the blog hop is "Watercolor Wash Backgrounds". I decided to use my watercolor wash on an artist palette:

I used my Aqua Painter and washed little bits of color to mimic paint on a painter's palette:

The inks from the lids of my ink pads came in handy as I dipped my Aqua Painter into a little bit of color and lightly swished it on. The ink colors used are: Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Tangelo Twist and Strawberry Slush. Here are the steps to my card:
  • Card Base: Basic Black Cardstock 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Score in the center at 4-1/4" and fold.
  • Layer #2: Crumb Cake Cardstock 4" x 5-1/4". Stamp the sentiment using Memento Black Ink from the Work Of Art stamp set. Emboss using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder and glue to card base.
  • Layer #3: Watercolor Paper cut with the Ovals Framelits Dies. Use the Small Oval Punch for the handle. Add splashes of color with the ink pads mentioned above. Outline the edges of the oval and the inside of the small oval with Smoky Slate Ink and the Aqua Painter. Use the same ink to add a swish in the center of the palette. Tie a piece of Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon to the handle and add Rhinestone Jewels to the swish in the center. Glue to card front using Stampin' Dimensionls.
  • Add a few Rhinestone Jewels to the background.
Your next stop on the Blog Hop is to visit Deb Currier. You will find great inspiration there, I promise! Make sure you go through the whole Blog Hop to gather lots of new ideas!
