We had gathered up my bags, and headed out of the airport for a tour of the town, and it just started coming down….it’s not cold enough to stick, which is my favorite kind of snow of all….It turns the world into a beautiful snow globe, but it doesn't hinder my getting from place to place.
I have a feeling this is just a test, only a test, to get folks ready for what is REALLY going to come this winter.
Trees are wearing their very best yellow and are still quite full of leaves – I hear the Aspens in the mountains are in full glory ---I don’t know if we will get up that far during our trip, but we did have some time to do a bit of driving before time to check into the hotel arrived.
I’m brain dead enough this morning not to even remember where this was ----we had driven out here to go to lunch, but the place we had chosen was closed ---
So we headed out to where red rocks dominate the scenery ---where cliff dwellers made their homes thousands of years ago --
Where the entrance to Garden of the Gods catches your breath, and lets you know you are in a magical place.
See the snow coming down??
Oh, the air smells so wonderful out here!
I was told to stay well hydrated. Colorado Springs is higher in elevation than Denver, so even MORE than a mile up.
Doesn't this look like something out of a John Wayne western?
Even the view from the comfort of the front passenger seat through the window is jaw dropping!
Look at the top right of this photo…do you see the two kissing camels?
And just where you think the terrain is all red rock ---pillars of grey slate join in to create a rich contrast.
Just Rugged!
Such a difference from the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina!
Good Morning, Colorado!
I’m excited about today’s morning presentation with the PIecing Partners of Colorado Springs, and to meet those who are also traveling in to say hello. My lecture this morning is on String Quilting – so I’ve got 100lbs of String quilts with me to share ---this afternoon we follow up with a 1/2 day Scrappy Trips workshop that promises to be a lot of fun.
Have a great Wednesday everyone ---take a look around you, and the world you live in, and find something awe-inspiring!
